Just Because The Window’s Dirty Doesn’t Mean It’s Dark Outside
Have you ever gone to look out the window, but the window was so dirty you could barely tell whether it was day or night, sunny or cloudy? Yeah, that’s a pretty dirty window. But isn’t that how life is sometimes? We face issues in our personal lives and begin to have a skewed view of reality. We can’t see the sun outside, because we are focused on our dirty windows. We cease to believe it could be sunny out. We might even start to believe the sun has left us forever.
How many times do we hear the phrase “my truth” in today’s cultural environment? But, there aren’t many truths. There is but one truth. Jesus said that He is the way, and the truth, and the life. And that no one comes to the Father except through Him. Someone born blind might think the world is dark. It can be dangerous to assume your reality is ultimate truth.
Our world is in great upheaval right now, but I know The One Who says heaven is His throne and the earth is His footstool. I know The One Who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. I know The One Who calls things that are not as though they were. I know The One Who says His strength is made perfect in my weakness. I know the One Who is The Healer, Provider, Sustainer, and Salvation of the world. Are you tired and weary? Are you confused and fearful? Are you unsure of where to turn today? Turn to Jesus.
“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. As has just been said:
‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.’” (Hebrews 3:12–15)
Let us be sure that “our truth” is aligned with “The Truth” … “His Truth.”
