I know this post will probably upset some people. Don’t get me wrong, I love “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, but I just can’t hold it in any longer.

Top 10 most unrealistic things about “Star Trek: The Next Generation”

  1. Captain Picard is bald. You’d think they could regrow hair in the 24th Century…unless maybe it’s just a fashion statement.
  2. There aren’t cameras everywhere on the ship. We have cameras everywhere, on our front doors, in our houses, but where are the cameras on the ship?
  3. People don’t spend much time on the holodeck. Most of us in the 21st Century can’t go 10 minutes without checking something on our phones. These people can recreate any place in the universe and they spend their leisure time in Ten Forward drinking synthehol. I don’t think so.
  4. They don’t yell out to “Q” every time they are in a deadly situation. You’d think they would want the help of some all powerful beings more often.
  5. They walk and use turbolifts instead of just beaming themselves everywhere. Come on people. We in the 21st Century are so lazy, we have elevators, escalators and those conveyor belts at the airport. If we had the technology to beam ourselves everywhere, we wouldn’t walk anywhere.
  6. They use natural resources to power their starships…just doesn’t seem very environmentally conscientious to me.
  7. Even with all their medical advancements, people are still only living to be 80 or 90 or 100 years old. They can make severe injuries disappear almost instantaneously, but people still have the same life expectancy that we do today. That seems fishy to me.
  8. They have to use their voices to ask the computer a question. We can do that with Siri and Alexa today…and with Elon Musk’s Neuralink coming around the corner, things are really about to get crazy. I would think the computer on the Enterprise should be able to read everyone’s minds and anticipate questions before they are even asked.
  9. Every starship doesn’t have a full-blooded counselor from Betazed. Why all the guessing about the intentions of alien captains on opposing starships? Bring a Betazoid on there and get the full scoop all the time. This makes no sense…captains using their intuition when they could fully know a situation if they just had a Betazoid on board.
  10. Stuff doesn’t break all the time. Captain Picard has a book displayed in his ready room. Doesn’t that thing fall down and get busted every time they run into some turbulence?
